The international smash-hit phenomenon; Circus 1903 is an American contemporary circus that visited The Lowry on its brand-new tour to present a range of dazzling acts from around the globe that transport the audiences back to the wonders of the Golden Age of Circus. The show puts elephants back in the ring as never seen before, with sensational puppetry alongside a huge cast of the most unique, jaw-dropping and dangerous acts from all four corners of the globe.
The cast/artists of this show were just incredible so it is literally almost impossible to pick out a few acts that were the highlight purely because each act was equally insane! I was sitting on the edge of my seat with only one eyed opened as the acts were unbelievably hard and complicated to perform however the result was dazzling and remarkable. For me the absolutely breathtaking act of Russian Cradle performed by ‘Les Incredibles’ stole the stage (or the ring should I say) due to the incredible strength and coordination needed to perform it. I also fell in love with the two Elephants; Queenie and Peanut who got the audience in awe every time they came on... even though they're only puppets. The design of them was stunning and very detailed that at times you were confused whether they were real, and the puppeteering work was very advanced and done very well.
This show is definitely a visual desert as not only the acts were insanely good, the set was extraordinary and the costumes gleaming with colours and gold of course!
